This About Sums Up Halloween This Year

Claire had a rough day. In the morning life was great. We played, read, danced and colored. Then came 11:30 am. Why is it on the days I need Claire to stay on schedule with naps and meals she never does?!

(good things listed in italics)

No lunch, well, if you count 12 puffs and 2 grapes as lunch...

No nap, we tried 3 times.

Two poopy diapers.

Disgruntled costume fitting (see photo above).

Scared at the photography store (a man dressed as Mario from Super Mario Bros. tried to talk to her).

Long car ride to dad's work.

A crash and burn in the hallway of dad's work. Big crocodile tears even though she was clearly dressed up as an elephant.

A bunch of people telling her how cute she was. She scowled at them the whole time.

Ate a whole fun sized package of M&M's in Pat's office. Chocolate all over her costume.

A longer car ride to take family photos in Lehi.

Cloudy, rainy skies.

Finally fell asleep. For 11 minutes.

Family photos. (She was not happy at all, hopefully we got some good ones! Thanks Kate, for everything, especially your patience!)

Even a longer car ride back to Bountiful.

Three pieces of chicken and a bite of banana for dinner. Awesome.

Drank a bottle and finally dozed off, but awakened three times by the doorbell and trick-or-treaters. Sigh.

To say the least, it was a trying day. But, I still love you sweet Claire!

Comments

at least she makes crying look cute while wearing an elephant costume!

Hey Emily! I hopped over here to your blog tonight, and I know it wasn't that way to you, but as soon as I saw that picture of Claire, I just had to laugh. That is a great picture! Hopefully the next day was better!

great picture of Claire. She needed to trick-or-treat with Asher in that costume! I said I refused to make her an elephant because it sounded so complicated. Glad you found one. Sorry you had such a rough day! I'm glad you finally got family pics. I'm sure you'll get some good ones Can't wait to see them!

I love the photo even though the day was not quite like you would have liked.

Oh poor little thing...is she sick? Well she still looks real cute in her costume! I'm sure Kate will work some photoshop magic and get you some good photos.

Oh Em, I still feel bad that Claire decided it wasn't a good day for a nap!! I've been so busy I haven't even downloaded the pic to my computer yet. (think: repainting a HUGE room in my house... what was I thinking?)
Do you have a date you need them by? I sure hope we got at least a couple! But even if we did, I'm excited to do another shoot in the spring. Thanks for dealing with the lens, you have no idea what a help that was to me. I owe you $$. Ok, I'll stop this long email. Painting should be mostly completed today, then I'm going to dive into your pics!
It's nice to know that other people have crazy toddler days too. What would we do without these kids? I love the red cape.
